Herzlich Willkommen im Erz der Alpen UNESCO Global Geopark im Salzburger Pongau. Dieses Gebiet, bekannt f\u00fcr Wintersport und Naturerholung, war fr\u00fcher eine Bergbauregion, in der schon in der Bronzezeit Kupfer abgebaut wurde. Der Geopark erstreckt sich \u00fcber 211 km\u00b2 und die vier Gemeinden H\u00fcttau, Bischofshofen, M\u00fchlbach am Hochk\u00f6nig und St. Veit im Pongau. Die UNESCO Global Geoparks, wie der Erz der Alpen UNESCO Global Geopark, sind Gebiete au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlicher geologischer Besonderheiten von internationaler und nationaler Bedeutung und gekennzeichnet durch eine gro\u00dfe Geo-Vielfalt. Aber auch andere Disziplinen wie z. B. Bergbau, Botanik, Arch\u00e4ologie oder Kulturgeschichte spielen dabei eine wichtige Rolle. Die Zusammenarbeit der UNESCO Geoparks mit den Universit\u00e4ten bringt immer wieder neue Erkenntnisse.<\/p>\n

Ein UNESCO Geopark ist kein Museum, er ist eine Natur-Erleben-Werkst\u00e4tte, die vom Wissenschaftler bis zum interessierten Laien alle begeistert. Der wissenschaftliche Anspruch wird auf Schautafeln, Brosch\u00fcren, Karten oder B\u00fcchern allgemein verst\u00e4ndlich vermittelt. Erst dadurch beginnt ein Geopark wirklich zu leben.<\/p>\n

Der Erz der Alpen UNESCO Global Geopark lebt seit\u00a0<\/span>vielen Jahren diese weltweite Idee, gemeinsam mit unseren Partnern\u00a0<\/span>in Deutschland, dem\u00a0Inselsberg \u2013 Drei Gleichen UNESCO Global Geopark<\/a><\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span>Th\u00fcringen und dem\u00a0Nationalen Geopark Porphyrland<\/a><\/span>\u00a0in Sachsen sowie den\u00a0<\/span>\u00f6sterreichischen UNESCO Global Geoparks Karawanken<\/span><\/a><\/span> und Steirische\u00a0Eisenwurzen<\/span><\/a><\/span>, wie auch dem nationalen Geopark Karnische Alpen<\/a><\/span>. Neu\u00a0<\/span>hinzugekommen im Jahre 2024 sind der Vestjylland UNESCO Global Geopark<\/span><\/a><\/span> in\u00a0<\/span>D\u00e4nemark und der nationale Shiniuzhai Geopark in China.<\/p>\n

Die wichtigsten Aufgaben der Geoparks bestehen im Erhalt der Geopotenziale, der St\u00e4rkung der regionalen Entwicklung sowie der Umweltbildung und im Geotourismus. Ein Geopark ist somit ein UNESCO Pr\u00e4dikat, das man sich alle 4 Jahre wieder verdienen muss und keine Schutzkategorie wie ein Nationalpark, Naturpark oder Naturdenkmal. Er kann und soll nat\u00fcrlich solche Bestandsschutz-Elemente (Geosites) beinhalten, die auch im\u00a0Erz der Alpen UNESCO Global Geopark zu finden sind.<\/p>\n
