From this vantage point opposite, you
have the "Windraucheggalm,“ a popular
destination for both tourists and locals.
The alpine hut, known as the
"Windraucheggalm,“ was constructed
in 1875, around the same time as the
Schweizerhütte in 1872 based on plans
from the Allgäu region. The mining
administration undertook study trips to
the Allgäu region in Germany in the early
1870s to learn about mountain alpine
farming.
The alpine farming, which involved
livestock breeding and milk production,
was crucial in addressing various
deficiency diseases among miners, such
as scurvy. The cause of this disease
is a deficiency of Vitamin C, resulting
from insufficient consumption of fresh
fruits and vegetables or raw meat and
fish. The treatment of this disease is
relatively simple with an adequate intake
of vitamin-rich food. The enrichment of
miners‘ diets contributed significantly to
increased production in mining.
