Visitor centre

"Welcome" - free entry for all

The gateway to the Ore of the Alps UNESCO Global Geopark is the visitor centre. It is located in the ski jumping metropolis of Bischofshofen. Right next to the world-famous Paul Ausserleitner ski jump is the extension to the Austria House, which hosted the Austrian Olympic team at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. The visitor centre was built in 2014/15 as a BayAut Interreg project in collaboration with the Natural History and Mammoth Museum Siegsdorf (Bavaria).

The visitor centre is the central culmination point of the Geopark. The towns of Hüttau, Bischofshofen, Mühlbach am Hochkönig and St. Veit im Pongau, which are part of the Geopark, present themselves in a joint exhibition with authentic installations relating to prehistoric and historic ore mining, making the topic a "tangible" experience. Visitors are given an overview of the entire Geopark with all its attractions such as geosites, show mines, show tunnels and museums.
